Camarines Sur, Philippines — The Provincial Board of Canvassers here has declared yet another recess after problems with SD cards and delays in the transmission of votes halted the canvassing of votes Tuesday, a day after the 2019 midterm elections.
Alberto Cañares III, provincial election supervisor, said that the board will reconvene at 10 a.m. Wednesday to continue the canvassing of votes.
The SD cards from the towns of Baao, Garchitorena, Bombon, San Jose, Tigaon, and Siruma were found to be defective and needed reconfiguration at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) hub in Legazpi City.
The previously reported defective SD card from a precinct in Sipocot has been reconfigured, allowing the board to canvass the votes from the said town on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the towns of Camaligan and Cabusao have also failed to transmit votes from the city and municipal level to the provincial level as of 9 p.m.
Of the five districts in the province, only the votes from the second district were canvassed entirely, enabling the board to proclaim reelectionist Representative Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte, who defeated Maribel Andaya-Eusebio by over 3,000 votes. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
