QUEZON City mayoralty candidate Joy Belmonte is leading in the initial tally of the local elections on Monday.
Belmonte, incumbent vice mayor of the City, garnered 445,701 votes based on the partial unofficial results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Transparency Server as of 9 p.m.
Incumbent Quezon City 1st District Rep. Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo is behind with 346,921 votes.
Belmonte’s staunch rival was released by authorities, together with his son William Frederick, and 44 other poll watchers pending preliminary investigation on their involvement in a vote-buying incident on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, Belmonte’s running mate councilor Gian Sotto earned 363,477 votes in the vice mayoralty race, followed by Crisologo’s running mate lawyer Joseph Peter Sison with 325,232 votes.
The Belmonte-Sotto tandem both represent the Serbisyo ng Bayan Party (SBP) while Crisologo and Sison are running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
Meanwhile, incumbent city councilor Roderick Paulate placed third in the vice mayoralty race with 106,702 votes.

As of posting time, 1,411 of the total 1,487 clustered precincts in Quezon City have been tallied by the board of canvassers.
Of the 1.3 million registered voters, 861,100 reportedly cast their votes.
