Duterte casts vote in Davao City

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Monday led the more than 60 million Filipinos in casting votes in the midterm elections widely viewed as a referendum on his administration.
At past 4 p.m., Duterte arrived at his polling precinct inside the Daniel R. Aguinaldo High School in Barangay Matina in Davao City, where he also cast his vote during the presidential elections in 2016.
Wearing a “DU30” shirt, the President wen to Precinct 1245A, the same precinct where daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who is chairman of the administration-backed regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago, also voted.
The President, chairman of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party, was accompanied by common-law wife Cieleto “Honeylet” Avanceña.
Duterte on Saturday urged Filipinos not to miss their chance to vote and help shape the country’s future.
“Now more than ever, the Filipino nation needs us to chart a course of its future,” the President said in a speech during the miting de avance of the PDP-Laban party in Pasig City.
“Let us not waste this chance to shape and secure the future of the Filipino now,” he added.
