THE candidacy of Rep. Bingbong Crisologo for mayor of Quezon City won’t be affected “in the short term” even after he was arrested for alleged obstruction of justice in an election-related incident on Sunday night, an official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said, however, that Crisologo would be investigated on allegations that he prevented police from arresting his supporters in their vote-buying activities.
“His arrest was part of the operations against vote-buying that was witnessed there. We’ll see where it goes from there. There will be an investigation but his candidacy will not be affected in the short term,” Jimenez said. WILLIAM B. DEPASUPIL
