MANILA, Philippines —Three days before the May 13 midterm elections, the government’s online precinct finder is finally operational.
Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) acting chief Eliseo Rio, Jr. shared this development to INQUIRER.net in a text message on Friday evening.
“We are pleased to inform you that by 1 p.m. today, the Precinct Finder is up and operational, after resolving all issues on its operation and cybersecurity measures,” Eliseo said.
“This is now the final version good for voters’ usage,” he added.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson James Jimenez bared the news in a tweet Friday evening.

Earlier, Jimenez said DICT made final configurations on the precinct finder to ensure it will not be hacked like what happened in 2016.
The poll official is referring to the 2016 “Comeleak” data breach where the Comelec website was defaced and hacked, with sensitive voter information of over 77 million voters compromised and leaked on the Internet.
