MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan has acquitted former Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) chairman Efrain Genuino from four counts of perjury in relation to supposed non-disclosure of his properties in his Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs).
The anti-graft court’s Third Division said in a promulgation Friday the prosecution failed to prove Genuino’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
In 2017, Sandiganbayan said it has found probable cause to try the former Pagcor official for allegedly making wrong declarations in his SALNs from 2002 to 2005.
The prosecution accused Genuino of failure to disclose properties in Bangkal, Makati City; Tunasan, Muntinlupa, Los Baños, Laguna, and Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
He posted a total bail of P24,000, or P6,000 per count as recommended by the Office of the Ombudsman.
