THE man whom Malacañang tagged as the voice behind the controversial video series that accused family members and allies of President Rodrigo Duterte of engaging in illegal drug activities dismissed the claim as “fake news.”

In a Facebook post, Bong Banal said: “For the record, HINDI po ako ang narrator ng BIKOY video.” (I am not the narrator of that video.)

Banal, who describes himself as a “meme activist,” issued the statement after Palace Spokesman Salvador Panelo on Wednesday named him, the Liberal Party, the Magdalo party-list group and some members of media as being behind a conspiracy to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Atty. Panelo, sa laki ng intel budget ninyo, paano kayo nakuryente ng ganito ka-maling info?” (Atty. Panelo, with a huge intelligence budget, how were you taken in by fake news?) Banal wrote.

Banal said that first it was a certain Niño Barzaga, a known Duterte supporter, who claimed that he was “Bikoy” before Panelo claimed that he was the narrator of the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos that were posted on video sharing app YouTube in April.

Una, sabi ng DDS na si Niño Barzaga, na AKO si Bikoy,” (First, Duterte supporter Niño Barzaga claims that I was Bikoy.) he wrote. “Ngayon, according to the Presidential Spokesman, AKO yung narrator. Ano ho ba talaga ako sa video, si Bikoy o yung narrator?” (Now, the Presidential Spokesman said that I was the narrator. Who am I in the video, Bikoy or the narrator?)

Sana po, magdesisyon na kayo,” (I hope you already make your decision.) Banal said. “Nakakatawa, kaso dahil makapangyarihan at marahas kayo, nakakabalisa. (It is funny that because you are powerful and violent, you are also anxious.) Lord, bless them for they do not know what they do.”

Banal was named in a matrix as part of a destabilization plot against the Duterte administration. ARIC JOHN SY CUA
