Quake shakes Mindoro

A magnitude 5.5 tectonic quake jolted Occidental Mindoro on Saturday, May 4, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The agency said the epicenter of the earthquake was traced 7 kilometers southwest of the town of Rizal.

Employees of the Occidental Mindoro State College felt the tremor at 9:10 a.m.

“The shaking was strong. Even the glass windows were rattling,” Cathy Alacaba, one of the employees said in Filipino.

“It was still shaking when we were leaving the building,” another employee said.
