SMB beats Magolia in Game 2 of PH Cup Finals

DEFENDING champion San Miguel Beer bounced back with a 108-101 win against Magnolia in Game 2 of their best-of-seven Finals series in Season 44 Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

Except for Terrence Romeo’s fourth quarter tantrums that led to his ejection, the Beermen put up a near perfect defense and offense as they turned a 23-22 first quarter lead to 91-70 early in the last period and were never threatened.

June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot scored 16 points each while Chris Ross and Marcio Lassiter had 15 points apiece. The Beermen also drew double digit scoring from Arwind Santos (13), Romeo (13) and Christian Standhardinger (13).

Romeo was thrown out of the game after committing two technical fouls for continuous complaining and was forced out by an irked San Miguel Beer team governor Robert Non with still 6:23 left.

San Miguel Beer was leading then at 96-81.

Ian Sangalang led Magnolia with 18 points in Game 2.

Game 3 is set on Sunday in the sapeme venue.
