MANILA, Philippines — Unable to send her regards personally, detained Senator Leila de Lima utilized the power of the pen to send a congratulatory message to his son, Vincent Joshua, for passing the Bar exams.

On Friday, the Supreme Court (SC) released the list of those who passed the 2018 Bar examinations.

“Sweetest congratulations, dear Vincent! So very happy! My happiest day in more than two years!,” De Lima wrote.

“Praise God!,” she added.

In a separate letter, De Lima said it was a “most glorious day” for her and and her family, since her son passed the bar exam.

Last June, the detained senator was not able to attend his son’s graduation from law school because of her detention at Camp Crame.

The senator said she was not allowed by a Muntinlupa court to attend his son’s graduation at the San Beda Alabang College of Law, since she was considered a “flight risk.”

De Lima is in detention since 2017 for drug charges which she has denied. /jpv
