True to her promise, University of Santo Tomas talisman Sisi Rondina is now a win away from achieving her goal which she made before the UAAP volleyball season started.
Determined to bring the España-based squad to the Finals for the first time in eight years, the 5-foot-6 Cebuana put on another dazzling show as the Tigresses claimed the No. 2 seed and the second twice-to-beat advantage with a masterful 25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19 win over the reigning champion La Salle Lady Spikers on Wednesday night.
Her confidence further boosted by the loud chants of “M-V-P! M-V-P!”, Rondina exploded for 29 points that included 25 attacks in leading the Tigresses to victory.
That win gave them a huge psychological advantage over the three-time defending champions who will be their semis opponents.
They need only to beat the Lady Spikers on Saturday to advance to the finals either against Ateneo or Far Eastern University.
As expected, Rondina played down the MVP chants, saying advancing to the finals is more important than winning an individual award even if it is the biggest one.
She’s leading the scoring with 18.5 points per contest and No. best spiker witha 33.38 percent success rate just behind Eya Laure (36.90%), and ninth in digging with 3.98 digs per set.
