The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a man who posted the so-called “Bikoy” videos which accused the family and an associate of President Duterte of being involved in illegal drugs trade.
Department of Justice (DoJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed Thursday the arrest made by the NBI.
“A search warrant was issued and served,” said Guevarra.
Meanwhile, the DoJ chief said the NBI is still conducting operations to arrest the other persons involved in the video, including Bikoy himself.
“It was the person who uploaded the video who was arrested for cybercrime, specifically cyberlibel,” explained DOJ spokesman Undersecretary Markk Perete.
NBI Public Information Office (PIO) chief Nicanor Suarez also confirmed “the NBI has in custody a person of interest.”
On the other hand, Suarez declined to provide more information and only assured that more details will be provided during the presentation of the person in custody on Friday.
A video series titled “Ang Totoong Narcolist” (the real narcolist), which accused the Duterte family and senatorial bet Christopher “Bong” Go of being involved in the narcotics trade, went viral on social media.
There are already five videos posted and all featured a hood-wearing Bikoy who claims to be a former member of a drug syndicate and has personal knowledge of the illegal drugs activities of the Duterte family and Go. (Jeffrey Damicog)
