The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire, which started at 11:56 a.m., was concentrated from the 18th to the 23rd floors of the residential building. The BFP raised the general alarm at 12:46 p.m. and the fire was declared under control at 2:29 p.m.
The city government sent more than 100 firetrucks and one lane of the road had to be closed because of falling debris from the blaze.
Initial investigation showed that the fire started at the building’s trash chute.
The BFP is investigating the incident as tenants were barred from entering the building until the situation was stable. NEIL JAYSON N. SERVALLOS
