MANILA, Philippines — The resolution released by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors about the country’s drug war campaign aims to discredit the administration.

These were the words of Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III on Sunday as he slammed the resolution, saying it has “no basis.”

Densing claimed that the resolution was done by Filipinos who are against President Rodrigo Duterte.

“These are statements of a group of Filipinos or former Filipinos who are really anti-Duterte; ito yung mga Pilipino na masasabi nating they are very liberal, members of the liberal,” Densing said in an interview.

“So itong mga statements na ito, walang basis po ‘yan. They just really want to condemn because they don’t want President Duterte to succeed his presidency because of course, come 2022 they will be fielding their own candidates in the name of, well so-called, Vice President Leni Robredo,” he added.

Under the resolution authored by Congresswoman Jackie Speier, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors condemned the Philippine government for its alleged ‘state-sanctioned extrajudicial killings by police,’ and the detention of Senator Leila de Lima.

Malacañang slammed the said resolution and called it as “toxic intrusion.”

“The resolution is a toxic and unacceptable intrusion to our legal processes and an outrageous interference with our country’s sovereignty,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said. /je
