Hong Kong bets dominate Asian triathlon

Hong Kong dominated the opening day of the 2019 NTT ASTC Subic Bay International Triathlon (SuBIT) Asian Cup after a remarkable 1-2-3 finish in both the men’s and women’s sprint distance events yesterday in Subic.

Jason Hardcastle retained his title in the 750m. swim-20K bike-5K run event for

16 to 19 years-old after clocking 56 minutes and 46 seconds.

Nicholas Tsang Cheung Singh and Philip Chenaux-Repond finished second and third after clocking 57.11 and 58.34, respectively.

Five other HK bets made it to the top 10 of the event sanctioned by the International Triathlon Union ( ITU ) and the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC) and backed by SBMA and its Tourism Department, the Philippine Olympic Committee ( POC ) Philippine Sports Commission ( PSC ), Pocari Sweat, Standard Insurance, Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines (ACIP), NTT, and the ACEA Beach Resort & Hotel.

Christian Legacy Academy student Joshua Ramos emerged as the top local finisher at 8th place (1:00.57). Juan Baniqued wound up 10th (1:01.35).

Bailee Brown topped the distaff side in 1:04.03 while twin sisters Cade and Tulullah Wright came in second and third, respectively.

In a show of force, four other HK bets made it to the top 10 while Cebuana and national team member Karen Manayon produced the 10th best time.
