THE National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) declared a yellow alert in the Luzon grid on Friday.
In its advisory, thr NGCP said the yellow alert will be up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the country’s largest island.
Available capacity is at 11,544 megawatts (MW) while peak demand is at 10,632 MW.
“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy later in the day,” NGCP said.
A yellow alert is raised when reserves are less than the capacity of the biggest plant in the grid, which is 647 MW for Luzon.
A yellow alert, however, does not necessarily lead to power interruptions.
