A man from Florida, United States impersonated a cop and pulled over a real one who was undercover, thus leading to his arrest.
Twenty-six-year-old Matthew Joseph Erris posed as a police officer and decided to pull up behind a driver, as per the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on April 18. Little did he know, the driver was a real undercover detective of the sheriff’s office.
The incident, which happened on April 16, prompted the undercover detective to dial 911 and report the unusual traffic stop, as per WFLA on the same day. Real police officers then arrived in the scene shortly after to do a real traffic stop on Erris.
“They found an airsoft pistol under his passenger seat. Erris is now facing a charge for impersonating a law enforcement officer,” the sheriff’s office said.
