Sara Duterte sends condolences to quake victims in Luzon

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Tuesday expressed her condolences to the victims of a 6.1-magnitude earthquake that hit Luzon on Monday afternoon.
Duterte-Carpio, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, made the statement as she announced the cancellation of the campaign rally of her party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), in Limay, Bataan to allow local government officials to look after the needs of the affected residents.
“We condole with the families of those who died in Pampanga during the earthquake yesterday [Monday],” Duterte-Carpio, chairman of the HNP, said in a statement.
“We deemed it best to cancel the Limay, Bataan rally on April 26 to allow Pampanga and Bataan to focus on their post-incident activities,” she added.
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake rocked Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon on Monday afternoon, reportedly killing 16 persons, damaging some buildings and roads, and causing a power outage.
Authorities said the center of the tectonic quake was in Castillejos, Zambales. CATHERINE S. VALENTE
