THE Department of Energy (DOE) is targeting a full restoration of power in affected areas in Pampanga later today, Tuesday, a day after a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck nearby Zambales, which also affected Metro Manila.
“Telco 2 right now is at 82 percent on restoring its damaged area and the [remaining] 18 percent can be done within the day,” Energy Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella said in a post-disaster press briefing at the DOE Building in Taguig City, citing ground reports from Assistant Secretary Redentor Delola.
“We are confident that by today the restoration of the whole system will improve [as] the power plants are coming in,” Fuentebella said.
He said that more plants were coming in like unit 4 of SMC Consolidated Power Corp. with unit 3 expected to come in by Wednesday morning. The unit 1 of GN power is expected to be back online by midnight.
He also reported that there was no significant damage in the downstream and upstream oil.
Fuentebella also said a price freeze for household liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and kerosene products in Porac, Pampanga would be effective 15 days from the declaration of state of calamity in the province. EIREENE JAIREE GOMEZ
