Metro Manila on ‘blue alert’ after 6.1 earthquake

METRO Manila local governments have been ordered to raise a blue alert and implement stringent measures to prevent casualties following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that rocked the capital region and Central Luzon on Monday afternoon.
The Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) gave the order at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
“All local disaster risk reduction management councils and regional agencies are directed to raise the alert status to blue to closely monitor, consolidate and reported all incidents,” MMDRRMC chairman Danilo Lim said.
With damage to several buildings in the metro, the local governments were also directed to implement measures and to inspect the structural integrity of buildings.
