THE Luzon grid will be placed on red alert for six hours today, Tuesday, according to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).
In its latest advisory, NGCP said the red alert would be up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
As of posting time, the Luzon grid is on yellow alert.
Available capacity is at 10,576 megawatts (MW) while peak demand is at 10,536 MW.
“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” NGCP said.
The NGCP defines red alert as a system condition in which there is zero ancillary service (AS) or a generation deficiency exists.
A yellow alert is a system condition in which the reserves are less than the capacity of the biggest plant online, which is 647 MW for Luzon. EIREENE JAIREE GOMEZ
