Officials from Phivolcs’ Seismology Department clarified that the Batangas earthquake was not connected to the magnitude 6. tremor that struck Castillejos in Zambales, which affected different areas in Luzon, including Metro Manila.

“They are not connected, because the Batangas fault line is different,” a Phivolcs official told INQUIRER.net. “All aftershocks are concentrated in the area Zambales and the rest of Central Luzon.”

“We are not expecting any damage and a tsunami because its origin was deep,” the official added.
