Pasig and Balanga absorbed quarterfinal defeats to fancied opponents in Friday’s conclusion of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Masters at the Katara Amphitheatre in Doha, Qatar.
Pasig was beaten by eventual champion Riga Ghetto of Latvia, 21-15, while Balanga lost to world No. 1 and runner-up Liman of Serbia, 21-9.
The two teams, backed by Chooks to Go, were booted out after sweeping their two matches in Thursday’s pool play.
Led by Joshua Munzon, Taylor Statham, Frenchman Angelo Tsakaragis and Serbian Nikola Pavlovic, Pasig defeated home team Katara, 21-14, before stunning Liman, 19-16, in Pool A.
Balanga, powered by Alvin Pasaol, American Travis Franklin, Karl Dehesa and Santi Santillan, stunned Riga, 19-17, before holding off Moscow Inanomo, 20-19, in overtime to top Pool C.
Both teams made its way to the Doha leg of the World Tour Masters through the inaugural Chooks to Go 3×3 President’s Cup and the Asia Pacific Super Quest.
