MANILA, Philippines — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Thursday called out a Twitter user for asking him how Senator Grace Poe became his niece.
“That’s bastos & insensitive. She was adopted by Susan Roces—a Locsin,” Locsin said in response to the netizen.
“In my family adoption is better than just being accidentally conceived. We got it from the Roman emperors who adopted their heirs never their sons so they knew who they were passing on the power to,” he added.

The Twitter user earlier retweeted one of Poe’s post, which was accompanied by photos during her election campaign in Bulacan.
“Sino ba talaga ang tatay ni Grace Poe?,” the netizen then asked, tagging another Twitter user.
The netizen, after an exchange of tweets with the other Twitter user on who should be asked about the senator’s biological parents, went on to say: [or] we should ask [Locsin] paano niya naging niece si Grace Poe.
Poe is the adopted daughter of veteran actress Susan Roces and the late Filipino movie icon Fernando Poe Jr. /jpv
