CEU cagers extend win run in D-League

Centro Escolar University maintained its status as the only unbeaten team after weathering Marinerong Pilipino, 93-76, in the PBA D-League at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Maodo Malick Diouf had 22 points and 19 rebounds while diminutive guard Keanu Caballero produced 17 points and six assists to lead the Scorpions to their sixth straight win and stay atop of the Foundation Group.

The Scorpions of coach Derrick Pumaren broke away in the fourth quarter after Marinerong Pilipino came back to take the lead late in the third, 57-56, on two free throws by Anton Asistio.
Diouf, Caballero, Judel Fuentes, Pierce Tyron Chan and John Lisbo accounted for all of CEU’s 35 points in the fourth to turn the game into a rout.
CEU outscored Marinerong Pilipino, 12-3, in the first three minutes to take a 70-60 lead on Diouf’s three-point play, 7:20 left. (Jonas Terrado)
