53 public transport workers test positive for ‘shabu’ in surprise PDEA inspection

A total of 53 public transport workers tested positive for shabu during a nationwide surprise drug test by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as part of its program in securing the safety of passengers going to provinces for the Holy Week.
Out of 7,729 public transport workers who got tested for drugs, 35 were bus drivers, 17 were bus conductors, and one was a dispatcher.
Bus stations at the National Capital Region had the most number of public transport workers who tested positive for illegal drug use with 13, followed by the Davao Region with eight, and Calabarzon with six.
Four were caught each in Central Visayas and Ilocos Region, three each in Cagayan Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, two in Northern Mindanao, and one each in Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccksargen, and Bangsamoro.
Only Mimaropa and Western Visayas public transport workers tested negative during the nationwide test.
Aquino also said that drivers who tested positive for drug use would have their licenses withheld pending the issuance of clearance by the PDEA.
He said that there must be rehabilitation before allowing the rivers to get their licenses back.
