Travelers urged to be at airport at least 3 hours early during Holy Week

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration has urged the public to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight this Holy Week in anticipation of the high volume of outbound passengers.
BI Port Operations Division Chief Grifton Medina said on Monday that the agency is expecting an influx of passengers during the Holy Week season.
Despite this, he noted that they “are prepared and expect queuing time to significantly decrease as compared to the previous years.”
Medina issued this advisory as the country is set to have a four-day holiday in line with the Holy Week celebration, starting Thursday.
Holy Week started on Sunday, which was dubbed as Palm Sunday, and will end next Sunday or Easter Sunday.
In order to assist the increase of passengers going out of the country, Medina said that a total of 57 immigration officers assigned in other BI offices were temporarily assigned at the airport.
Medina earlier announced that Immigration port personnel will not be allowed to take a leave to enhance services in key ports during the Holy Week break as it implemented a heightened security alert. /je
