Suspect in Tondo girl’s slay killed in shootout

A man, who shot dead a 17-year-old girl whom he mistook for a drug client, was killed by police in a buy-bust operation in Tondo, Manila, early Sunday morning.
Manila Police District (MPD) chief Police Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao, Jr. said the suspect, Jade Ayson, 46, a resident of Building 24, Permanent Housing on Vitas Street, Balut, Tondo, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
Police said the suspect sold shabu to a police poseur-buyer inside Building 18, Unit 323 of Permanent Housing at around 1:30 a.m..
Sensing that he was transacting with anti-narcotics operatives, the suspect pulled out his gun and fired shots at the poseur-buyer, triggering a shootout that resulted in his death
Recovered from the crime scene were a .38-caliber gun loaded with five bullets, one spare magazine loaded with seven bullets, seven live .9 mm bullets, a spent shell, and one deformed slug.
Police also found two sachets of suspected shabu in Ayson’s left pocket and one pink pouch containing five sachets of suspected shabu.
On April 7, Danao said the suspect shot Ronalyn Cordero, 17, a vendor, while she was eating with her cousin in front of their house on Dayao Street in Barangay 129, Zone 11, at around 3:45 a.m. on April 7.
The girl sustained a gunshot wound in the back of the body and died at Tondo General Hospital.
Danao said the victim was mistakenly identified by the suspect as alias “Juana B” who owed him money for availing “shabu”.
The suspect’s lookout, Alfie Cubelo, 30, was arrested at 10 p.m. on the day of the incident. (Erma Edera)
