Sources: Anunoby could sit until conference finals
After an emergency appendectomy, Toronto Raptors guard OG Anunoby could be unavailable in the playoffs until a potential berth in the Eastern Conference Finals, league sources told ESPN.
The second-seeded Raptors meet the Orlando Magic in Game 1 of an Eastern Conference first-round series on Saturday.
OG Anunoby, the Raptors’ first-round draft pick in 2017 out of Indiana, has averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in his two seasons with Toronto.
Anunoby underwent the procedure on Thursday after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis.
Anunoby has averaged seven points and 2.9 rebounds in 20 minutes a game for the Raptors, and brings an ability to guard several different positions on the court.
Anunoby was the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft.
