MANILA, Philippines – The suspect in the gruesome killing of Cebu teenager Christine Lee Silawan is willing to take lie detector test to verify his confession, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Friday.
“At sabi ko nga, consistent naman siya sa sinasabi niya. In fact, ito para mapatunayan din, we will make him undergo a neuro-psychiatric test also and he is even willing to undergo a lie detector test,” PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde said in a press conference in Laguna.
Albayalde was referring to 43-year-old Renato “Ren-Ren” Llenes, who owned up to the crime.
Llenes said he tricked Silawan into believing that he was a younger-looking man when they communicated on Facebook.
Llenes bared the details on the brutal killing on Thursday, saying peeled the teenager’s skin using a pair of scissors.

Aside from Llenes, another possible suspect in Silawan’s murder is Silawan’s 17-year-old former boyfriend.
The 17-year-old is currently facing murder charges filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and was taken under custody of a home-care facility of Lapu-Lapu City’s social welfare and development office.
Albayalde asserted that it could be possible that both suspects were involved in the murder.
“That is why tayo naman, we are open for everything sinubmit natin ang DNA. Lahat ng paraan ay gagawin natin di naman natin sinasabi na ito na and then tapusin na yung iba,” he said.
Albayalde likewise said that he personally talked to the Llenes’ lawyers, noting that his extra-judicial confession is consistent.
“I personally talked to the lawyers. Hindi naman siguro tayo lolokohin ng dalawang abogado dun, one in public attorney’s office and one a private lawyer. Ang sabi nila the suspect is consistent dun sa kanyang sinasabi,” he said.
Silawan’s corpse was found half-naked on a vacant lot in Bangkal in Lapu Lapu City, Cebu on March 11.
Half of her face was skinned while her organs in the neck were missing.
Silawan also sustained 30 stab wounds. /gsg
