THE Sandiganbayan First Division convicted a former military comptroller of six counts of perjury in connection with his Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) from 1998 to 2003.
In a decision promulgated on Friday morning, the court sentenced Jaime Ligot to one year in prison for each count.
Meanwhile, the court dismissed three other perjury cases and found Ligot not guilty of two other counts.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed the 11 perjury cases against Ligot in 2013 in connection with his SALNs from 1993 to 2003.
He can still file a motion for reconsideration or appeal the matter.
