SM Supermalls has raised the bar of customer service with its latest innovation that will usher in a new kind of shopping experience.
Optimizing the technology of artificial intelligence, SM, in partnership with leading electronic manufacturer Cal-Comp Technology Philippines, have launched its first in-mall AI robot as part of its #SMThingNew campaign, held at SM Megamall, in Mandaluyong City, on March 28.
“Throughout the years, innovation has always been at the core of SM’s growth in delivering better malling experiences. This year, one of our key strategies is to leverage on the latest and most advanced technologies,” said Steven Tan, SM Supermalls’ chief operating officer. “Today, we are proud to share with you another milestone as we bring in the country’s first-ever smart customer service robot.”
Dubbed as Sam, the mall’s new customer service assistant is an AI humanoid robot designed to help with directions, provide mall information, deals, promos and events to deliver a smoother, more personalized and efficient interaction with customers.
“Sam is easy to approach and has answers to almost everything SM mall-related, making shopping more seamless and fun for our customers,” Tan added. “This breakthrough innovation is a reflection of our commitment to continuously give enhanced malling experiences to our customers.”
Sam is likewise equipped with advanced facial recognition technology that enables it to make personalized greetings to mall goers upon entering the mall.
On the other hand, customers can also communicate with Sam through SM Supermalls’ Facebook page, serving as a 24/7 online concierge that can provide information such as branch locations, mall schedules and promos, among other services.
“You can come and say hi to our newest customer service attendant starting today, here at SM Megamall,” Tan added.
More Sam robots will also be rolled out at various SM Supermalls, he said.
Last year, SM released a statement announcing its partnership with Cal-Comp Technology to innovate Sam robot.
“In pursuit of bringing family fun experiences for all, SM is excited to bring to customers another fun innovation that aims to transform shopping and retail experiences in the country,” Tan said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Cal-Comp PH Chief Executive Officer Simon Shen described its partnership with SM will “revolutionize the local retail industry.”
“Our smart service robot’s speech capabilities will hopefully make the shopping experience more convenient for everyone and provide the needed assistance to mall guests of all ages.” Shen said in a statement.
The Cal-Comp Technology is known for its developments in robotics, smart-home appliances and electronic beauty products, among its other products.
