Duterte speaks behind bullet-proof glass anew

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte again spoke behind a thick, bullet-proof glass panel during the campaign rally of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental on Thursday night.
This was the second time Duterte was protected by a bullet-proof glass panel.
Last week, the President used the panel during the campaign rally of PDP-Laban in Malabon City where he also claimed that somebody wants to kill him.
“May gusto mang pumatay sa akin. Pero palagay ko pa naman ang buhay ay swerte-swerte lang. Kung panahon ko na talaga, wala na akong magawa (Someone wants to kill me. But if it’s your time, there;s nothing you can do about it),” Duterte said.

In a statement, Presidential Security Group (PSG) Commander Brig. Gen. Jose Eriel Niembra explained that they opted to use the glass panel because the activity was held in an open area.
Malacañang also said that it is taking all threats to the President seriously because he has made many enemies in his tough stance against crime, corruption, and illegal drugs. /gsg
