PH trade gap hits $2.79B in Feb

THE country’s trade deficit widened to $2.79 billion in February from $3.16 billion a year ago as imports continued to outpace exports, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Thursday.
February’s trade deficit however was lower compared to the $3.76 billion recorded in January this year.
PSA said total export sales during the month went down by 0.9 percent to $5.18 billion from $5.23 billion in January 2017.
Total value of imported goods on rose by 2.6 percent from $7.76 billion to $7.97 billion this year. ANNA LEAH E. GONZALES
