THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) is considering taking action against a businessman for “mocking” immigration procedures.
In a Facebook post, which made rounds of social media on Sunday, Xian Gaza described how he fled the country on September 30, 2018 despite supposedly having “three arrest warrants and after being sentenced to five years in prison.”
In a statement on Monday, Immigration spokesman Dana Krizia Sandoval said that the claims of Gaza who first made headlines in 2017 after he asked actress Erich Gonzales out for a coffee date through a billboard advertisement, an offer which Gonzales turned down, were “preposterous” and a “cause for concern.”
“Stunts like this using the bureau to gain fame and stay relevant are a security risk. He is making a mockery of our airport procedures for attention,” she said.
Sandoval clarified that Gaza was cleared for departure since he has no derogatory record in the BI’s database.
Sandoval said that courts send them copies of arrest warrants or HDOs.
“It was quite uneventful and ordinary, really. No Hollywood-level storyline, just regular immigration clearance,” she said.
“The story is preposterous, similar to other claims he made in the past. If you know regular airport procedures, his story sounds silly. There are many loopholes. Booking numerous flights will not help evade police. Everything is recorded in our systems, with one click you’ll know which flight a person really took,” she added.
