Ateneo lands first Final Four seat

ATENEO de Manila University booked the first Final Four berth in a hard-earned win against a determined National University, 25-14, 24-26, 25-17, 25-19, Sunday in the women’s volleyball tournament of UAAP Season 81 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Sunday.
It was the 10th win out of 11 games for the Lady Eagles and a 10th straight post season appearance.
Ateneo bagged its ninth straight semis stint, excluding Season 77, when it barged into the Finals outright after sweeping the elimination round.
The Lady Bulldogs suffered their eight loss in 11 outings and formally bowed out of the semis race.
The Lady Eagles’ lone defeat was against their archrivals, the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, on opening day and whom they are scheduled to play on Saturday, April 13.
In the first game on Sunday, the defending champions firmed up their own Final Four bid by trashing the Adamson Lady Falcons who have long dropped out from the semis race.
