LTFRB exec suspended over corruption allegations

MANILA, Philippines — A Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) executive has been placed under preventive suspension for allegedly receiving money from a transport operator.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered the 90-day suspension of Manolo Labor, the chief-of-staff of LTFRB chief Martin Delgra, as the agency concluded that there a prima facie case exists for grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.
The agency added that Labor was suspended because his position could allow him to “exert undue influence or pressure on potential witnesses and tamper with evidence.”
The DOTr order stated that Labor allegedly solicited and “knowingly and willfully” received P385,000 in exchange for a franchise.
He was given a chance to answer the allegations and submit evidence three days after receipt of the complaints.
According to the DOTr order, if Labor fails to answer the complaints, it would be taken to mean that he is waiving his right to air his side and the case will be decided on the basis of the evidence available. /ee
