FOR the third straight day, the Luzon grid will be placed on yellow alert this Wednesday afternoon as some power plants were still not operational, Energy officials said.
The alert will be raised from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Energy Assistant Secretary Redentor Delola said in a text message to The Manila Times.
Affected are: Pagbilao 3 (420 megawatts), Masinloc 2 (344 MW), Pagbilao 1 (382 MW), SLTEC 1 (150 MW), and Malaya 2 (350 MW).
“We are still monitoring the demand, considering the power plants on forced/unplanned outages remain offline or not in operation until this time,” said Mario Marasigan, director of the Department of Energy’s Electric Power Industry Management Bureau.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) defines yellow alert as a system condition in which the reserves are less than the capacity of the biggest plant online, which is 647 MW for the country’s largest island.
