The awareness campaign for the country’s hosting of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games via the Go Pilipinas Go will continue in hopes to boost the confidence of the national team members.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez mentioned that the GPG movement would conduct provincial sorties leading to the 30th edition of the SEA Games.
“We’ll be having a lot of sports activities,” said Ramirez in Tuesday’s first official Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum held at the Amelia Hotel Manila in Bocobo St., Manila.
“After the event at the Rizal Baseball Stadium, there will be one in Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro,” added Ramirez, who is leading the GPG that was launched formally last March 26.
The events the PSC chief is referring to in Bacolod City include the match pitting Ceres-Negros FC and Persija-Jakarta in the Asian Football Championship (AFC) Cup today, while the one in Cagayan de Oro City is the GPG Fun on April 21, and there is also the Palaraong Pambansa on April 27 in Davao City.
It was a successful launching at the historic Rizal Baseball Stadium as Ramirez headed the drumbeating of the SEA Games attended by top sports officials including Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) chairman, former foreign affairs secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.
