THE yellow alert over the Luzon grid for most part of Tuesday was lifted after its reserves were deemed sufficient, the Department of Energy (DoE) announced on Tuesday.
In its advisory, the DOE said the notice was issued after the following power plants experienced outages:
- Pagbilao 3 (420 megawatts)
- Masinloc 2 (344 MW)
- Pagbilao 1 (382 MW)
- SLTEC 1 (150 MW)
- Malaya 2 (350 MW)
Calaca 2 (300MW) and SLPGC 2 (150MW) were not operating at full capacity.
“The DOE is closely coordinating with the power industry players to ensure the delivery of electricity services to consumers. It includes the facilitation of incoming plants that are undergoing commissioning and testing, such as Masinloc 3 for Luzon and TVI 2 for Visayas,” it added.
NGCP defines a yellow alert as a system condition in which the reserves are less than the capacity of the biggest plant online, which is 647 MW for the country’s largest island. JORDEENE B. LAGARE
