National University (NU) returned to the win column after beating Adamson University, 28-26, 30-32, 25-21, 25-22, in Season 81 University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women’s volleyball on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Four Lady Bulldogs scored in double figures as they ended their three-game losing skid and surpassed University of the East (UE) at No. 6 with an improved 3-7 record.

“We’re happy because it’s been a long while since we had a win. We made changes in our system,” said NU head coach Norman Miguel.

Veteran blocker Roselyn Doria finished with a game-high 18 points anchored on 12 kills, five aces and a block, fueling the Sampaloc-based squad’s balanced attack.

The Lady Bulldogs also avenged their 19-25, 19-25, 22-25 defeat to the Lady Falcons back in the first round.

“Before coming into the game, we set our mind that we really want to win against Adamson this time around,” said Miguel.

Bern Flora had a team-best 16 points on 12 spikes and four aces for the Lady Falcons even as Chiara Permentilla had 14 markers and skipper Eli Soyud had 12.

Adamson sank deeper with its sixth straight setback and an overall 1-9 slate.

Earlier in men’s play, Far Eastern University tightened its grip of No. 2 with a 25-15, 26-28, 25-22, 25-14 victory over University of Sto. Tomas.

John Paul Bugaoan and Jude Garcia fired 18 and 17 points, respectively, powering the Tamaraw Spikers to their eighth win against a lone loss.

De La Salle University climbed to solo fifth after sweeping UE, 25-21, 25-22, 29-27.

Chris Bernard Dumago tallied a game-high 12 points while John Delos Reyes racked up 10 markers for the Green Spikers, who improved to 4-6.
