TWO members of the Tayabas City Police in Quezon, allegedly involved in the armed encounter on March 14 which killed the son of Sariaya town mayor, surrendered on Monday night to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Lucena City.
Police Officer (PO)2 Christopher John Siman, PO1 Perry Malabagyo were accompanied by their legal counsel, Russel Miraflor, to the NBI office reportedly to testify what they know of what actually happened during the alleged encounter.
Miraflor said Malabagyo’s service firearm was taken by his colleague, identified as only as “Legaspi.” The gun was allegedly used to kill the victims on March 14.
Christian Gayeta, son Sariaya Mayor Marcelo Gayeta, and his security escort Christopher Manalo, reportedly engaged a group police officers who responded to an alleged robbery incident at a gasoline station. The young Gayeta was killed on the spot.
Malabagyo and Siman, with two other police officers and their Chief of Police Supt. Mark Joseph Laygo, were relieved from their posts on Monday as the Quezon Police Provincial Office began investigating the incident. BELLY M. OTORDOZ
