MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio would not use the narcolist released by her own father, President Rodrigo Duterte, as a basis for endorsing a candidate.

On Thursday night, the President bared the names of 46 politicians allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

But Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) said its chair, Duterte-Carpio, chose not to get a copy of the list, citing that it’s already up to the public on who to vote for the upcoming elections.

“She chose not to get a copy of the list of ‘narcopoliticians’ because she would rather leave it to the voters to decide on the qualifications they look for in a candidate above and beyond what is required by law,” HNP said in a statement.

“Mayor Inday Sara believes that a vote for a candidate should be a personal decision based on a voter’s perception and assessment of all the candidates,” it added.

HNP also said that Duterte-Carpio would “never turn down politicians who would publicly request her to raise their hands.”

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) already filed before the Office of the Ombudsman administrative cases against the 46 officials included in the narcolist.

According to the DILG, the list includes 35 mayors, seven vice mayors, a provincial board member, and three members of the House of Representatives. /atm
