5.5-magnitude quake strikes Davao Occidental

MANILA, Philippines — Davao Occidental was hit by a 5.5-magnitude quake on Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The earthquake was located 24 kilometers (km) northwest of Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental at 7:07 a.m., Phivolcs said.
It had a depth of 97 km and was of tectonic origin.
The quake was felt at Intensity V in Koronadal City and Intensity III in Davao City.
Meanwhile, instrumental intensity V was registered in Alabel, Sarangani and General Santos City, South Cotabato, Intensity IV in Kiamba, Saranggani, and Intensity III in T’Boli, South Cotabato, Davao City.
There were no reports of damage or injury but Phivolcs said aftershocks were expected from the earthquake.
