THE Sandiganbayan’s Special Fourth Division convicted former Optical Media Board (OMB) Chairman Ronald “Ronnie” Ricketts and one other person over the release of pirated discs in 2010 and sentenced them from 6 to eight years in prison.
In a decision promulgated on Friday afternoon , the court also sentenced Ricketts and Glenn Perez, former Enforcement and Inspection Division (EID) Computer Operator 2, to perpetual disqualification from holding public office.
The court acquitted former Head of the EID Manuel Mangubat and former EID Investigation Agent I Joseph Arnaldo for the prosecution’s failure to prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
The court had granted former OMB Executive Director Cyrus Paul Valenzuela’s demurrer to evidence and dismissed the case for lack of sufficient evidence.
