MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde has directed all police units affected by the water shortage in their areas to observe ways to conserve water.
In a statement released Thursday, Albayalde has ordered the headquarters support units of the PNP to detail inspectors who will check on wasteful or unnecessary use of water at police camps.
He also directed PNP units to assist village officials in maintaining order and crowd control in water rationing points.
“Local PNP units are directed to ensure safety and security of water service providers against unruly crowd and persons who may want to provoke chaos in the water distribution points,” Albayalde said.
Meanwhile, the police will also be on the lookout for unauthorized tampering or pilferage of water from fire hydrants and main water lines, said Senior Supt. Bernard Banac, spokesperson of the PNP. /je
