A dentist lost more than P3 million worth of cash and valuables to an alleged member of the notorious “dugo-dugo” gang in Quezon City on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators of Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) identified the victim as Meryl de Jesus, 39, a resident of Barangay Pasong Tamo.

Police report showed that De Jesus’ 13-year-old son was inside their house on  Alondras Street at Mira Nila Homes between 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. when he received a phone call from an unknown woman.

According to the boy, the female caller told him that his mother figured in an accident with a minor and badly needed money for settlement.

During their conversation, the caller instructed the boy to go to his mother’s room to get some money.

While inside the room, the unknown caller told him again to get the black envelope containing cash near the jewelry box.

He was also directed to look for the safety vault placed on top of the cabinet and threatened that if he fails to deliver the items, his mother would be jailed.

The boy wrapped the vault with a garbage bag then placed it inside a plastic box organizer and boarded a taxi to bring the items in front of Wilcon Home Depot at EDSA, Balintawak.

Upon arriving, the boy handed the box to a heavily built woman with brown complexion and brown long hair before they boarded again another cab.

The woman left the boy at a convenience store near a gasoline station on Congressional Avenue and told him to wait for his mother.

Minutes later, De Jesus and her husband along with personnel of Talipapa Police Station (PS-3) fetched the boy after authorities received a report of kidnapping incident.

During investigation, it was found out that they were victimized by members of dugo-dugo gang who were able to take away the vault containing P2 million cash and jewelries worth P1 million, 2,200 US dollars, and an Armscor .45-caliber pistol and ammunition.

Further investigation is ongoing to locate and identify the suspect.
