THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will investigate two “high-profile” celebrities who were allegedly in contact with a supplier of party drugs in Metro Manila, an official said.
PDEA Special Enforcement Service Director Levi Ortiz told reporters on Tuesday that a well-known actor and actress, which he refused to name, ordered 200 tablets of ecstasy from John Steve Pasion, an alleged supplier who was recently killed in an operation.
The names of the celebrities were on Pasion’s phone, which PDEA agents recovered from the raid.
“They’re always appearing on TV,” Ortiz said.
He said that PDEA was currently investigating whether the celebrities were users or distributors of the tablets or whether these were real names or aliases.
Pasion, an alleged big-time party drugs supplier, was killed in an operation on Monday evening in Manila.
He was inside his car that was parked outside a condominium in Sta. Cruz when a PDEA agent tried to arrest him. He was shot as he tried to pull his gun at the arresting officer.
Pasion was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Pasion’s live-in partner, Irene “Sophie” Mercado, was also in the car at the time of the operation where 15 tablets of suspected ecstasy worth P30,000, P300,000 worth of suspected shabu, and sachets of suspected cocaine were seized. ROY NARRA
