Trade gap hits $3.76B in Jan

THE country’s trade deficit widened to $3.76 billion in January from $3.16 billion a year ago as imports continued to outpace exports, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Tuesday.
PSA in a report said that total export sales during the month went down by 1.7 percent to $5.28 billion from $5.37 billion in January 2017.
Total value of imported goods rose by 5.8 percent from 8.54 billion to $9.03 billion this year. ANNA LEAH E. GONZALES
