MANILA, Philippines – Makati policemen arrested a street food vendor Saturday afternoon after he allegedly argued with and threatened the son and daughter-in-law of Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin.
Chief Inspector Gideon Ines, of the Makati Police’s Criminal Investigation Division, said the vendor threatened Lucas Bersamin Jr, 37, and his wife, Bianca, along Malugay Street, Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City, at about 4 p.m.
According to Ines, Bianca was walking along Malugay Street when vendor Conrado Bingco, 38, called her and offered fishballs.
The woman refused but Bingco, of Zobel Street, Barangay Palanan, Makati City, reportedly insisted and allegedly even resorted to catcalling.
An argument erupted between the woman and the vendor which prompted Bersamin Jr. to aid his wife, who was in “distress.”
Ines said, the altercation heated up during which Bingco allegedly told the Bersamins that he “had a knife.”
The “threat” prompted Bersamin Jr. to seek the help of police who arrested Bingco.
Ines told Inquirer.net on Sunday that they didn’t find any knife or any deadly weapon on the vendor.
Bingco is currently at Makati Detention Facility Unit facing charges of unjust vexation and threats. /cbb
